Omaha Brides vs. Huskers

Brides vs. Huskers! Every year without fail the beautiful football tradition that is the Huskers of Lincoln inundates us in Omaha beyond what anyone in any other city or state could fathom.
Husker mania is at an all time high in Omaha and its popularity grows with each year that passes. For the Omaha Bride this can lead to some pretty hefty decision making when it comes to making plans for a fall Wedding.

While traditionally the busiest wedding months fall on May and June it can and usually is just as busy in September and October. This of course is the peak of Husker season. It sounds crazy that a college football schedule can be a determining factor on the decisions an Omaha Bride will make but believe it or not it can and should be a determining factor on your decisions on when to get married in Omaha.

You may be thinking that this is your Wedding Day so who cares about a dumb football game? Well, the answer is more people than you think. Husker game days are always on Saturdays, which of course is the popular Wedding Day. Although most Brides in Omaha do not consider football schedules while picking a Wedding date, the Husker schedule is something to be aware of.

Fortunately most of the Husker games are during the afternoon and will not interfere with your plans. However, if you are planning an early afternoon ceremony you may be in for some competition.

To some guests the question will become "your wedding" or the game??

You can check the Husker schedule in advance and try to make plans around the game but sometimes schedules and game times will change. Back in the 2003 season an afternoon game was actually rescheduled at the last minute to an evening game.

Based on conversations with vendors, Omaha Brides.com has discovered that they have seen guest with mini televisions and/or portable radios at the Ceremonies and Receptions. Yes, this seems tacky to you. Keep in mind though that this is your day? not your guests. Therefore the importance of the day to a guest is nothing close to the way you are viewing it.

Suggestions from Omaha Brides.com:

This is your day and you need to do whatever you want and feel comfortable with. If your are having your reception during a night game you may want to consider putting a TV in the corner of the room for those that just have to see the game.

Also, do not take offense to anyone carrying a portable radio or TV. Just be glad they are there and if you feel they are being tacky try to overlook it.

Husker days can actually work to your benefit. Yes, if the huskers win you will have plenty of people who will be ready to party and celebrate.
